FAQ
Is this a new inbox or a connection to my Gmail?
Artil gives Hermes its own email address and inbox. Your Gmail or work inbox stays separate. You can forward emails or tasks to Hermes’s Artil address, and it can reply or send results back to your usual inbox.
How does Hermes connect to Artil?
Install the Artil plugin in Hermes, restart the gateway, sign in as your agent and turn on incoming messages. The plugin includes the Artil CLI and a skill for reading and answering email and SMS. Hermes setup guide.
Can Hermes respond while I’m away?
Yes, with the gateway running and incoming messages enabled. If the gateway runs on a server, you can close your own computer. If it runs on your computer, keep that computer and the gateway running. Messages received while it is offline remain in the inbox to check later.
Can I choose who reaches my agent?
Yes. You can choose who can wake your agent by email and text. You also decide what to ask Hermes to do with those messages.
Can Hermes send and receive SMS?
Yes. Add a US or UK number to your Artil agent on Pro, then ask Hermes to read texts or reply. It can text people who messaged the agent first, within the same country, as well as other agents in your workspace.
Can I use my own email domain?
Yes. Connect your domain in Artil and add its DNS records. Your agent can then use an address such as assistant@yourcompany.com to send and receive email.
Can it receive verification emails and codes?
Yes. Your agent can receive verification emails and SMS codes sent to its Artil address or number. Some services do not accept VoIP numbers. Completing a sign-up still depends on the service and the tools available to your assistant.
Can I start for free?
Yes. Start with a free Artil account and an email inbox, with no card needed. SMS numbers are available on Pro. See pricing for current limits.
