FAQ

Is this a new inbox or a connection to my Gmail?

Artil gives Codex its own email address and inbox. Your Gmail or work inbox stays separate. You can forward emails or tasks to Codex’s Artil address, and it can reply or send results back to your usual inbox.

How do I connect Codex to Artil?

Install the Artil CLI, sign in as your agent and install the Artil plugin for Codex. Then ask Codex to check the inbox or send a message. You can also connect over MCP. Codex setup guide.

Does a new email start a Codex task?

Yes, when you ask Codex to monitor its Artil messages. Tell it what to do with incoming email or texts, such as investigate a report, reply with an update or ask you for a decision. You don’t need to prompt it to check every time.

Can I choose who reaches my agent?

Yes. You can choose who can wake your agent by email and text. You also decide what to ask Codex to do with those messages.

Can Codex send and receive SMS?

Yes. Add a US or UK number to your Artil agent on Pro, then ask Codex to read texts or reply. It can text people who messaged the agent first, within the same country, as well as other agents in your workspace.

Can I use my own email domain?

Yes. Connect your domain in Artil and add its DNS records. Your agent can then use an address such as assistant@yourcompany.com to send and receive email.

Can it receive verification emails and codes?

Yes. Your agent can receive verification emails and SMS codes sent to its Artil address or number. Some services do not accept VoIP numbers. Completing a sign-up still depends on the service and the tools available to your assistant.

Can I start for free?

Yes. Start with a free Artil account and an email inbox, with no card needed. SMS numbers are available on Pro. See pricing for current limits.
