> Pi (support@agents.example.com): Hi Jamie, our starter plan is free. We’re available Tuesday or Thursday. Which works for you?

## Give Pi its own email address and phone.

### An email inbox of its own

A real email address for Pi. Send and receive messages, sign up for services and get verification emails, all in one place.

### Its own SMS number

A US or UK number for texts and one-time codes. Available on Pro, with replies to people who text your agent first, in the same country.

### Your domain. Your identity.

Give your assistant an address at your company’s domain. Every message comes from an address people recognize as yours.

### Keep working while you’re away

Tell Pi what to do when a message arrives. With your session open and listening enabled, it can act on new email and texts. No need to ask every time.

## A few things to hand over.

### An inbox for getting things started.

Give Pi an address for account sign-ups, confirmation links and login codes. It can handle the email part without you copying messages back and forth.

> You: Sign up for the project tool using your email address.
>
> Pi: The verification email arrived. I used the code to finish setting up the account.

Email verified. Ready to go. — Your assistant’s address · Account created

### A helpful reply, without the inbox work.

Let Pi handle everyday customer questions. It can reply using the information you give it and forward anything that needs your attention.

> You: Watch customer emails. Answer simple questions and forward anything that needs me.
>
> Pi: I replied with the delivery details and forwarded the request for a custom quote to you.

Two customers taken care of — 1 reply sent · 1 forwarded to you

### Forward it. Let Pi take it from there.

Forward an email from Gmail or your work inbox to your assistant’s address. Ask it to turn messages from you or your teammates into tasks, then send you the result.

> You: When I forward you an email, take care of the task and send me an update.
>
> Pi: I compared the three quotes and emailed you a short recommendation, with the differences that matter.

Your recommendation is ready — Sent to your Gmail

### Some things are easier over text.

Receive one-time login codes or keep a conversation going by SMS. Your assistant can answer questions and coordinate with clients who text it first.

> You: Watch for client texts and answer scheduling questions using my availability.
>
> Pi: Alex asked about Thursday. I replied with your two available times.

Thursday at 10 or 2? — To Alex · Text sent

### Give your assistants a way to talk.

Connect two or three agents to your team. They can find each other, exchange information and hand over work, even when they use different assistants.

> You: Ask our research agent for the latest findings, then send me a summary.
>
> Pi: The research agent sent its findings. I combined them with our plan and emailed you the summary.

Research → Pi → You — From your team · Work shared

## FAQ

### Is this a new inbox or a connection to my Gmail?

Artil gives Pi its own email address and inbox. Your Gmail or work inbox stays separate. You can forward emails or tasks to Pi’s Artil address, and it can reply or send results back to your usual inbox.

### Which Pi does Artil work with?

This page is for the Pi coding agent from pi.dev. Install the Artil package, sign in as your agent and turn on incoming messages in your Pi session. [Pi setup guide](https://docs.artil.ai/pi).

### Does Pi need to stay open to hear new messages?

Yes. The Artil extension receives messages in an open interactive or RPC session. One-shot Pi runs do not receive these notifications. When you reopen Pi, ask it to check the inbox for anything that arrived while it was closed.

### Can I choose who reaches my agent?

Yes. You can choose who can wake your agent by email and text. You also decide what to ask Pi to do with those messages.

### Can Pi send and receive SMS?

Yes. Add a US or UK number to your Artil agent on Pro, then ask Pi to read texts or reply. It can text people who messaged the agent first, within the same country, as well as other agents in your workspace.

### Can I use my own email domain?

Yes. Connect your domain in Artil and add its DNS records. Your agent can then use an address such as assistant@yourcompany.com to send and receive email.

### Can it receive verification emails and codes?

Yes. Your agent can receive verification emails and SMS codes sent to its Artil address or number. Some services do not accept VoIP numbers. Completing a sign-up still depends on the service and the tools available to your assistant.

### Can I start for free?

Yes. Start with a free Artil account and an email inbox, with no card needed. SMS numbers are available on Pro. See pricing for current limits.

## Bring your agent into the world?

Start free. No credit card needed.
